Have you ever prayed for
something...
for a long time and
when the time came to trust God for it, you realized God was
answering your prayers and the prayers of others?
Well, that's what happened to me at our mini conference
on Saturday, April 30th. As we held our first mini
conference at la Iglesia Cristiana de la Communidad, I
realized many of you were praying, not just for me, but
for everyone who was a part of this conference...

Book
Review: “Keeping Your Wife Your Best Friend”
by Clarence Shuler
As I minister in the
community, I find many men who are struggling in their marriages. This
book is an excellent resource and a practical guide for husbands.
Clarence Shuler uses real life scenarios and action points to help us
men move forward in our marriages. Don’t wait until your marriage is
in trouble to read this book. It is a must read book. I highly
recommend that all married men read this book. May God richly bless
our marriages.

CULTURAL DEPT.
Are Chicanos the same as Mexicans? ...Latinos?
...Hispanos?
Do Christians appropriately identify themselves as member of any
ethnic group? Does it matter to our ministry? Here is a "taxonomy" that may
be a useful reference for this topic...

PRISON MINISTRY DEPT.
What is community?
Have you ever stopped to think of the make-up of your community? Community
is made up of families, friends, workplaces, churches, sports activities,
and many more things.

Pitches Detention Center
But we often forget that prisoners in our society are part of our
community too. They are the "undesirables" and yet...

United
Ethnic Mission

By Debbie Schwartz -
Asian American Ministries Co-Director and Member of the Ethnic
Leadership Council
he
face of America is changing and by 2050 the ethnic minority will
become the majority. We believe the Lord longs to ignite a movement of
the Gospel to every tribe, language, and people group in America. He
will call out a new generation of ethnic laborers and leaders to live
out the Navigator calling.
Unified in our call to Ethnic America and anticipating our rapidly
changing demographic population, the Ethnic Leadership Council began
in 2003 to seek together the counsel of the Lord. "Lord!" we asked,
"How do we need to change our ethnic entities in light of our changing
country? How do we influence intentional and culturally relevant
ethnic ministry throughout the Navigator work?"

This
group of young people
...pictured here are from my high school Sunday
school class and my AWANA youth program at Community Grace Brethren
Church. Our service project this past weekend was to work in the
cafeteria at Forest Home Conference Center.

During our devotional time on Sunday, Justine and Joseph accepted
our Lord Jesus as their personal Savior. It was a wonderful experience
as we witnessed them asking Jesus into their lives shedding sincere
tears of confession. Thank you for praying for this ministry. God is
answering your prayers.
 Christmas
Lives On for Latinos…
Puerto Rican Community Celebrates A Special Day… Thrilling For
Children

One of the more attractive aspects of the Hispanic culture, many Latin
American immigrants say, is that you get to celebrate Christmas twice.
Yesterday, Latinos across Long Island marked Three Kings Day or what
many call "Little Christmas." Children get a second round of presents
that sometimes is bigger than on Dec. 24 or Dec. 25.

Selecting
the Right People
by Dave Kraft
Over the last several weeks, I have been doing a lot of thinking about the
importance of picking the right people. No decision, it seems to me, has
more long-range consequences than having the wisdom to invite the right
people to be among those closest to me, In my role as a leader developer, I
am always observing people as to future potential because I believe that one
of the most important jobs of a leader is spotting, recruiting and
developing the next generation of leaders.

Vacation Bible School
This summer has been one of answered prayers: ours and yours! We
have seen God at work and have been privileged to join Him in
what he is doing...: The theme for
this year's club was "Good News Clues, searching the Bible for
God's love and eternal life". This is always one of my favorite
ministries activities to do during the summer. One of the
reasons is because God gives me the privilege to lead children
to Christ. Karen, a third grader in my class accepted Jesus in
to her heart. She had the biggest smile afterwards. Yes, Jesus
loves all the children of the world, red, yellow black and
white. They are precious in His sight. Yes, Jesus loves all the
children of the world.

October 9th at La Communidad Church
in Lakewood California will begin the 40 days of purpose campaign...
After many months of
prayer, training and planning. We will begin a focused an effort to
bring this church into a dynamic experience with God. You may be
wondering, "Why 40 days? What's so special about that time frame?" the
Bible is Clear that God considers 40 days to be a spiritually
significant time period.
Whenever God wanted to prepare someone for
his purposes, he took 40 days.
Please pray for Pastor Manuel Espinoza and his elders as they lead the
Lord's church in this effort. Ask God to move in the following areas
of ministry.
WORSHIP: We were planned for God's pleasure!
FELLOWSHIP: We were formed for God's family!
DISCIPLESHIP: We were created to become like Christ!
MINISTRY: We were shaped for serving God!
EVANGELISM: We were made for a mission!
